Wireless Phase I Implementation
 

Letters requesting Phase I service from local service providers were sent out in September 2003. These providers have 6 months in which to provide the requested service.

As of March 01, 2004 only one provider has done so. Implementation and testing were completed March 1st for Nextel Partners.

All parties involved were on conference call throughout the process. Representatives from Nextel Partners, Bellsouth, Interact Public Safety Systems, and Laurens County E911 were involved.

Testing started around 13:30 and lasted about 2 hours. All cell sites were hit, including all sectors of those sites.

Testing completed and Phase I active in Laurens County for Nextel Partners Inc.


 

April 01,2004 - Southern Linc & Alltel Communications are scheduled to be Phase I compliant for our Center by April 25th.

Verizon Wireless has asked for, and was granted, a 90 day extension. Giving them a deadline of July 25th.


April 13, 2004 - Alltel Communications are now scheduled to test for Phase I on April 22 at 10AM. If all goes well, they will be active the same day.


April 22, 2004 - Testing started for Alltel Communications. All cell sites were hit, including all sectors of those sites.

Testing completed and Phase I active in Laurens County for Alltel Communications.


May 06, 2004 - Testing started for Southern Linc. All cell sites were hit, including all sectors of those sites.

Testing completed and Phase I active in Laurens County for Southern Linc.


June 14, 2004 - Testing started for Verizon Wireless. All cell sites were hit, including all sectors of those sites.

Testing completed and Phase I active in Laurens County for Verizon Wireless.


May 12, 2004 - The above listed Wireless Service Providers have completed testing and are online with Phase I at this time. These providers include Alltel, Verizon, Nextel and SouthernLinc.
 


June 18, 2004 - New Wireless Providers have recently started covering Laurens County and have now been sent letters requesting Phase I service. These providers are Cingular and T-Mobile. Correspondence has started and testing will be set up soon.

 


November 20,2004 - T-Mobile has requested a 30 day extension on their 6 month deadline. This was granted, bringing the deadline to January 31, 2005.

 


March 15, 2005 - Testing started for T-Mobile. All cell sites were hit, including all sectors of those sites.

Testing completed and Phase I active in Laurens County for T-Mobile.
