An upgrade to the LAN system for the 911 Center has taken place. The old system was a more crewd network with all of the office computers and printers connected to a linksys hub. All wiring was CAT5 and was not terminated correctly.

The new system has CAT6 wiring terminated with Keystone jacks and plates on the computer end and Trendnet Patch Panels on the switch end. From the Patch Panel the patch cords go through a Neat Patch then into a HP Procurve 1800-24G Switch. Since our building is split down the middle, we decided to run the 1st half on Switch 1 and the second half on switch 2.

All power to the switches, server and WAP are going through a Tripp Lite Isobar, which in turn is power through our 10 KVA Ferrups UPS.

Our WAP is a Cisco Wireless-G Access System, with appropriate security measures taken.
